• Alejandro Hernández-Puértolas

    Alejandro Hernández-Puértolas is Partner & CEO at HI Partners, a company created with Banco Sabadell. HI Partners is the leading comprehensive hotel debt and asset management company in Spain with €1.2 billion in assets under management. Alejandro worked at Reig Capital from 2007 to 2015, where he was CEO for four years, with €2.6 billion in AuM, and was also a member of the investment committee at Miura Private Equity. Alejandro had earlier been a board member at Société Foncière Lyonnaise (SFL) and Loris Azzaro. From 2003 to 2007 he was Managing Director at MedGroup (Soros & Perry Capital Spanish Real Estate Investment Platform), with €400 million in hotel management. He began his career in the hotel industry as Deputy General Manager at the Iberostar Group.

    Alejandro Hernández-Puértolas holds a degree in Business Administration and Management from the International University of Catalonia (UIC), a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Jacksonville University, and completed the Stanford Executive Program (SEP) at Stanford GSB.

  • Santiago Fisas

    Santiago Fisas is Partner & MD Investment at HI Partners and has been involved in transactions in the hotel and real estate industry for the past 14 years. Prior to HI Partners he was Investment Director at Reig Capital, where he managed a hotel and real estate portfolio of € 200 million. He has also held roles as Acquisitions Manager at Stein Group International, coordinating hotel investment transactions (acquisitions/divestments, leases and hotel management agreements) and at Europraxis Consulting carrying out hotel consultancy projects.

    From 2012-2014 he also co-founded and was co-CEO of Westwing Home & Living España, the leading e-commerce Company for home and living in Europe, whose shareholders include Rocket Internet and Summit Partners (€17 million revenues in Spain and €184 million in Europe in 2014).

    Santiago holds a degree in Business Administration from ESADE and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of British Columbia.

  • Sergio Carrascosa

    Sergio Carrascosa is Partner & MD Asset Management at HI Partners. He has more than 15 years’ experience in the hotel sector and has worked with a large number of operators in every sector category. Before HI Partners, Sergio Carrascosa was Head of Hotels and Real Estate Assets at Reig Capital, with overall responsibility for the construction, development and management of real estate assets and the hotel portfolio with a total investment of more than € 500 million.

    Between 2003 and 2007, he was Asset Management Director at MedGroup, the Spanish investment platform created by the Soros Real Estate Group and Perry Capital with responsibility over a hotel portfolio of € 200 million.

    Sergio Carrascosa holds a degree in Business Administration and Management and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from ESADE, Stern New York University and the École des Hautes Études Commerciales (HEC) in Paris. He also obtained the Certificate in Hotel Real Estate Investments and Asset Management at Cornell University.

  • Montse Rius

    Montse Rius is Managing Director of Finance and Corporate Development at HI Partners. With over 15 years of experience in the sector, she began her career in the Corporate Finance Department at Ernst & Young and later joined Riva y Garcia. During this period she executed M&A operations and capital market deals (right issues and IPOs) She also led debt refinancing deals and launched joint ventures, with special focus on the real estate sector and private equity.

    Montse is Chairman of the Urban Land Institute Barcelona after five years holding the coordinator role for Madrid and Barcelona District Councils. She also teaches Corporate Finance at ESADE.

    Montse Rius holds a degree in International Trade from the Higher School of International Trade at Pompeu Fabra University. She took the Business Analysis and Valuation course at the London School of Economics and completed a Postgraduate degree in Corporate Finance at ESADE. In 2009, she took the Corporate Restructuring, Mergers and Acquisitions course at Harvard Business School.

  • Sebastian López

    Sebastián López is Managing Director Internal Audit at HI Partners and has over 35 years of experience in the banking sector. He worked at Barclays Bank España for 26 years, first as Regional Controller for Catalonia, Aragon and the Balearics; later as Regional Director of Expansion in Catalonia and the Balearics, leading the opening of 30 bank branches in this region; and, lastly, he was Regional Director of Catalonia Area 1, responsible for the bank’s network of branches in Barcelona.

    Sebastián López holds a degree in Finance from the University College of Financial Studies (CUNEF), completed the Expert in Banking Management and Financial Services course at the Autonomous University of Madrid, and holds a Master’s degree in Banking and Finance from the Madrid Institute of Stock Exchange Studies (IEB).

  • Andrea Schröder
    Managing Director Legal & Compliance

    Andrea Schröder is Managing Director Legal & Compliance at HI Partners. Previously, she worked at Baker & McKenzie for over 12 years, advising a variety of both national and international companies on the planning, negotiation and implementation of M&A operations, joint ventures, private equity investments, corporate restructuring, due diligence processes, partnership agreements, general commercial contracting and matters of good corporate governance. She has also been a professor of corporate, commercial and M&A law at Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), ESADE and ISDE.

    Andrea Schröder holds a degree in Law from Pompeu Fabra University and a Master’s degree in International Corporate Law from ESADE. She spent one year of her degree studying at the Università degli Studi di Siena.

  • Felipe Klein
    Head of Investment

    Felipe Klein is Head of Investment at HI Partners and has over 9 years’ experience in the field of finance, corporate finance and strategic consulting in the hotel and real estate sectors. He previously held the post of Vice-President for Spain and Portugal at JLL’s Hotels & Hospitality Group, in charge of different hotel projects (transactions, asset management, valuations, operator searches and strategic consulting) and at Irea, where he was involved in projects to restructure real estate debt of a volume in excess of 300 million euros.

    Felipe Klein holds a degree in Business Administration from Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona and took part one of the Degree in Law from the same university. He also obtained the Certificate of the “Real Estate Investments and Asset Management” Programme of Cornell University.

  • Pedro Pérez-Abad
    Head of Legal

    Pedro Pérez-Abad is Head of Legal at HI Partners. He has over 8 years’ legal advisory experience in commercial and private law and specialises in real estate and financial law. He previously worked at Ramón y Cajal Abogados, advising national and international clients on real estate, urban planning and financial operations in matters such as financing and financial restructuring, M&A operations, real estate asset operations, building law, due diligence processes and general commercial contracts. He was also CFO of the public-interest Fundación 2 de Mayo for the promotion of history and culture.

    Pedro Pérez-Abad holds a degree in law from the ULPGC and a master’s degree in Corporate Legal Advice (LL.M) from the Instituto de Empresa (IE Business/Law School).

  • Samuel Picado
    Head of Audit

    Samuel Picado is Head of Audit at HI Partners. He has over 11 years’ experience in the auditing and tourism sectors. Prior to joining HI Partners, he worked at Hotusa Group (€915 million turnover in 2015 and a presence in over 16 countries), in charge of different tasks, accounting policies, group consolidation, M&A corporate operations, IT control, systems migrations, office centralisation, both nationally and internationally. He began his professional career in the tourism industry at Uniaudit-Grant Thornton where he managed the auditing of clients in the sector.

    Samuel Picado holds a Diploma in business sciences from Pompeu Fabra University and a post-graduate qualification in auditing from the University of Barcelona. He has also taken a master’s course in financial management at the Open University of Catalonia.

  • Javier Berná
    Head of Special Situations

    Javier Berná is Head of Special Situations at HI Partners and in charge of acquisition operations in which the seller is in a situation of equity imbalance, as well as operations involving distressed debt and restructuring of hotel debt. With 13 years’ experience in the banking sector, he initially worked as a corporate administrator responsible for TOP10 customers of Banco CAM and Banc Sabadell. He subsequently took part in the takeover of BCAM by the FROB as a member of the unit for managing central services assets and lastly took over the management of Banc Sabadell’s unit for special monitoring and corporate restructuring by sectors.

    Javier Berná holds a Degree in Business Administration with a speciality in strategy and marketing from CEU SAN PABLO University (currently Cardenal Herrera) and later took a master’s degree in Finance at Carlos III University. He has also taken courses on real estate restructuring, urban planning regulations, supervision and regulation, financial analysis and quantitative analysis, run by Fundesem Business School.

  • Luis Rullan
    Head of Business Development

    Luis Rullan is Head of Business Development at HI Partners, which he joined in 2015 as an Associate on the Asset Management team. He has over 10 years’ professional experience, mostly in the hospitality industry. For 4 years (2007-2010) he worked as a strategic consultant in the tourism and leisure division of the EuroPraxis Consulting group. He led many institutional and private projects with particular emphasis on mix-use developments, hotel valuations, operator searches, business plans, concept and master planning. He subsequently undertook an entrepreneurial venture involving the development of an international project until he returned to Spain two years later and became head of exports and expansion for Africa, Central & Eastern Europe and Asia for a renowned FMCG Company.

    Luis Rullan holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the École Hôtelière de Lausanne. He is also a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management from the Open University of Catalonia and studied business administration at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB).

  • Oriol Peña
    Head of Operations

    Oriol Peña is Head of Operations at HI Partners and has over 9 years’ experience in Corporate Finance, with a particular focus on the hotel sector. He began his professional career in the Netherlands at Deloitte, where he worked as an auditor on due diligence projects for hotel groups such as AccorHotels. He subsequently moved to the FMCG sector and worked in corporate finance, taking part in the process of purchase-sale of different branches of activity in the companies Sara Lee, Procter&Gamble and Unilever. He also co-founded Next Urban Hotels (2012-2014), a company addressed to Hotel management and the provision of operational consulting services for urban hotels.

    Oriol Peña holds a degree in International Business Management from the University of Applied Sciences Utrecht (HU International) and a Master’s Degree in Finance from the London Business School.

  • Oriol Llobet
    Head of Finance & Administration

    Oriol Llobet is Head of Finance and Administration at HI Partners. With over 10 years’ experience in corporate finance, he began his professional career in the Transaction Advisory Services Department of Deloitte, where he was involved in processes of financial due diligence, company valuations and reviews of the business plans of different companies and sectors. He later joined the Department of M&A and Corporate Development of Agbar Group (Suez España) where he took part in the analysis and implementation of corporate operations. Prior to assuming his current post at HI Partners, he was a member of its Corporate Development Department.

    Oriol Llobet holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from ESADE.

    Head of Corporate Development

    Joan J. González is Head of Corporate Development at HI Partners. With over 12 years’ experience in corporate finance, he started his professional career in the departments of Corporate Finance of Grant Thornton and of the Riva y Garcia Financial Group where he was involved in M&A processes, capital market, fairness opinions and due diligence for different clients and sectors. He is joint author of the book “La venta de unidad productiva en sede concursal” (The sale of the production unit under Spanish insolvency law – Wolters Kluwer).

    Joan J. Gonzalez holds a Degree in Business Administration from ESADE and took the Master’s degree at the Schulich School of Business in Toronto.
